بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
وَٱلۡفَجۡرِ
Wal- fajr
By the Dawn
وَلَيَالٍ عَشۡرٍ۬
Wa-la-yaa-lin - 'ashr
And ten nights,
وَٱلشَّفۡعِ وَٱلۡوَتۡرِ
Wash-shaf-'i- wal-watr
And the Even and the Odd,
وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا يَسۡرِ
Wal-lai-li - idzaa- yasr
And the night when it departeth,
هَلۡ فِى ذَٲلِكَ قَسَمٌ۬ لِّذِى حِجۡرٍ
hal-fee- dzaa-lika qo-sa-mul
-lidzii-Hijr
There surely is an oath for thinking man.
أَلَمۡ تَرَ كَيۡفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ
Alam-ta-ro kay-fa- fa-'ala
rob-buka bi-'aa-d
Dost thou not consider how thy Lord dealt with (the tribe of) A'ad,
إِرَمَ ذَاتِ ٱلۡعِمَادِ
Iro-ma-dzaa til- 'imaa-d
With many-columned Iram,
ٱلَّتِى لَمۡ يُخۡلَقۡ مِثۡلُهَا فِى ٱلۡبِلَـٰدِ
Al-la-tii-lam- yukh-laq-
mith-lu-haa fil-bi-laad
The like of which was not created in the lands;
وَثَمُودَ ٱلَّذِينَ جَابُواْ ٱلصَّخۡرَ بِٱلۡوَادِ
Wa-tha-muu-dal-ladzii-na jaa-
bus-swokh-ro bil-waa-d
And with (the tribe of) Thamud, who clove the rocks in the valley;
وَفِرۡعَوۡنَ ذِى ٱلۡأَوۡتَادِ
Wa-fir-'auna-dzil- au-taa-d
And with Pharaoh, firm of might,
ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوۡاْ فِى ٱلۡبِلَـٰدِ
Al-ladzii-na twa-ghau-fil-bi-laa-d
Who (all) were rebellious (to Allah) in these lands,
فَأَكۡثَرُواْ فِيہَا ٱلۡفَسَادَ
Fa-ak-tha-ruu fee-hal-fa-saa-d
And multiplied iniquity therein?
فَصَبَّ عَلَيۡهِمۡ رَبُّكَ سَوۡطَ عَذَابٍ
Fa-swob-ba- 'alay-him rob-buka
sau-twa-'adzaa-b
Therefore thy Lord poured on them the disaster of His punishment.
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلۡمِرۡصَادِ
In-na rob-baka la-bil-mir-swo-d
Lo! thy Lord is ever watchful.
فَأَمَّا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبۡتَلَٮٰهُ رَبُّهُ ۥ فَأَكۡرَمَهُ ۥ
وَنَعَّمَهُ ۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَكۡرَمَنِ
Fa-am-mal-in-saa-nu idzaa-
mab-tala-huu rob-bu-hu fa-ak-ra-mahu
wa-na'-'ama-huu fa ya-quu-lu
rob-bii-ak-ro-man
As for man, whenever his Lord trieth him by honouring him,
and is gracious unto him, he saith: My Lord honoureth me.
وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبۡتَلَٮٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيۡهِ رِزۡقَهُ ۥ
فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَهَـٰنَنِ
Wa-am-maa- idzaa- mab-ta-laa-hu
fa-qodoro- 'alay-hi riz-qo-hu
fa-yaquu-lu rob-bee- a-haa-nan
But whenever He trieth him by straitening his means of life,
he saith: My Lord despiseth me.
كَلَّاۖ بَل لَّا تُكۡرِمُونَ ٱلۡيَتِيمَ
Kal-laa bal-laa tuk-ri-muu-nal ya-tee-m
Nay, but ye (for your part) honour not the orphan
وَلَا تَحَـٰٓضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ
Wa-laa ta-Haa-dwuu-na
-'alaa-twa-'aa-mil mis-kee-n
And urge not on the feeding of the poor.
وَتَأۡڪُلُونَ ٱلتُّرَاثَ أَڪۡلاً۬ لَّمًّ۬ا
Wa-ta'-kuluu-nat-tu-raa-tha ak-lan-lam-ma
And ye devour heritages with devouring greed.
وَتُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡمَالَ حُبًّ۬ا جَمًّ۬ا
Wa-tu-Hib-buu-nal-maa-la
Hub-ban-jam-ma
And love wealth with abounding love.
كَلَّآ إِذَا دُكَّتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ دَكًّ۬ا دَكًّ۬ا
Kal-laa idzaa-duk-ka-til-
ardwu-dak-kan-dak-ka
Nay, but when the earth is ground to atoms,
grinding, grinding,
وَجَآءَ رَبُّكَ وَٱلۡمَلَكُ صَفًّ۬ا صَفًّ۬ا
Wa-jaa-a rob-bu-ka wal-
ma-la-ku-swof-fan swof-fa
And thy Lord shall come with angels,
rank on rank,
وَجِاْىٓءَ يَوۡمَٮِٕذِۭ بِجَهَنَّمَۚ
Wa-jee-a-yau-ma-idzim bi-ja-han-nam
And hell is brought near that day;
يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ۬ يَتَذَڪَّرُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ
Yau-ma-idzin ya-ta-dzak-
karul-in-saa-nu
wa-an-naa-lahudz-dzik-ro
on that day man will remember,
but how will the remembrance (then avail him)?
يَقُولُ يَـٰلَيۡتَنِى قَدَّمۡتُ لِحَيَاتِى
Ya-quu-lu yaa-lai-tanii
qod-dam-tu li-Ha-yaa-ti
He will say: Ah, would that I had sent before
me (some provision) for my life!
فَيَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ۬ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُ ۥۤ أَحَدٌ۬
Fa-yau-ma idzin laa-
yu-'adz-dzibu-
'adzaa-ba-huu- aHad
None punisheth as He will punish on that day!
وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ ۥۤ أَحَدٌ۬
Wa-laa-yuu-thi-qu
wa-thaa-qa-huu-aHaad
None bindeth as He then will bind.
يَـٰٓأَيَّتُہَا ٱلنَّفۡسُ ٱلۡمُطۡمَٮِٕنَّةُ
Yaa-ay-ya-tu-han-naf-sul
-mutw-ma-'in-nah
But ah! thou soul at peace!
ٱرۡجِعِىٓ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً۬ مَّرۡضِيَّةً۬
Ir-ji-'ee- ilaa-rob-biki
ro-dwi-yatan mar-dwiy-yah
Return unto thy Lord, content in His good pleasure!
فَٱدۡخُلِى فِى عِبَـٰدِى
Fad-khu-lii fee-'i-baa-dii
Enter thou among My bondmen!
وَٱدۡخُلِى جَنَّتِى ٠
Wad-khu-lii jan-na-tii
Enter thou My Garden!
